About Me

Reading my bio, huh?
Real life sucks. I bet you feel like that sometimes, maybe even right now. That’s why I write fantasy. I need to escape depression, bitterness, bills, illness…I could go on, but you get it. In the pages of fiction, I can slay the dragons, triumph over the bad guys, be immortal, and never struggle with love handles. For a short time, I can let it all go, and be everything I can’t be in real life. Maybe you’re hurting right now. Maybe you’re in the waiting room of the hospital or just stuck in traffic. I’ve brought a portal. Come with me…Let’s ditch this crappy popsicle stand and go somewhere great, where we can forget all this, at least for a while.

That’s why I write. I’m not an author, I’m an escape artist.

  1. I am new to your books I have just finished Forest and I loved it! What is the reading order of your books?
    Thank you for your time!

    • Hi Barbara! Thanks for the comment. I’m so pleased you enjoyed Forest! The order for The Legends of Regia is: Forbidden Forest, Forest Fire, Verdant, and Dark Soul. More titles in the series are forthcoming. Blue Aspen is a stand alone YA paranormal.

  2. Hi
Just wanted to say “Thanks” for inviting me to the world of Forest and Syrus. I just hope one day a man could love me as such.
Good love is so hard to find.
May your family and you be blessed with the incoming New Year!

could love me as such. It could be nice to not just know love but truly “feel”.

    • Thank you, Rose. I’m so happy you enjoyed reading my books! Good love is hard to find, you’re right. But Syrus is always wiling to be your book boyfriend. 🙂 New Years blessings to you and yours!

  3. Hey Tenaya! I just wanted to tell you that I loved the Forest and Syria’s story, however, I was wondering does their story continue or is the Regina series now based on Netriet?

    • Hi Laura,
Thanks for the comment. Forest and Syrus will continue to be at the heart of all future Regia releases. Dark Soul contains Netriet’s story, but the book is split close to 50/50 between her and Forest. By the end of Dark Soul you will see how Forest comes back as the main focus of future books. Thanks for the question!

  4. Tenaya,

I very much enjoyed Forest and Syrus in book 1 & 2. It is very refreshing to have a writer write about Austin, as I myself is also a proud Austinite!

    Keep up the good writing.

  5. Hi!!!! I am Katie, probably your biggest fan. I’ve been reading Forbidden Forest, and I absolutely love it so far (little past half way).
I realized you actually respond to your fans, and well I am hoping you would reply to me too!
I just had a few questions, like where did you come up with the ideas in the book? Did you read other books and link ideas together? Come up with it all on your own? Why is Syrus blind? Did you excel in English classes when you were in school? How did you know you wanted to be an author? Why didn’t you make Kindel more like a father figure to Forest? Or was he and I read it wrong? Why did you make Phillipe French? Do you have a thing for that language and style? Was it the first idea that came to mind? I didn’t understand if everyone (no matter the beast) has a chosen lover or just shape-shifters, do they? Is that why the King and Queen Vampires are married? Because of fate? Or did they choose each other and end up hating each other, but not splitting apart for the sake of the other vampires and Syrus? I know Syrus loves Forest, but why? Why couldn’t love another man? I like them together though. So far they have shown that a couple can stick together, even if they get EXTREMLEY mad. How many books had you written and then slowly stopped writing? Are you just into this amazing world of impossibilities? Do you like other genres like romance, scary, or even true? How many books have you finished that WEREN’T published?
These are only a few of my questions, since I have not yet finished your amazing book (mother doesn’t let me read often because I supposedly get grouchy when I am interrupted).
I really hope you respond! Thank you!!!!!

    • Hello Katie. Thanks for the post. I’m not sure I can answer all of your questions here on my website. Some of your questions, I’m sure are already answered, if you’ve finished reading Forbidden Forest. Inspiration is a funny thing. It comes at odd times and in odd forms. Even though Regia is a fantasy world filled with fantasy creatures, so much of it comes from my own real life experiences. For example, my grandfather was blind. I know what it is like to interact and care for someone who is blind, so I was totally comfortable writing that aspect of Syrus. Not everyone in Regia will have a lifemate. The king and queen are together because of political reasons, not love. As for your French question, Philippe is not actually French but you’ll see that about 3/4 of the way through the book. However, each Regian race is loosely patterned after a real culture.
When I was in school, I excelled in English and Drama. I knew I wanted to be an author when I was 8 yrs old.
I have a few story lines that I began and then abandoned, but not many. I have many more in my head, just waiting for me to have the time to put them on paper. I like few other genres. I plan on dipping my toes into horror in the future, and contemporary.
I understand about getting grouchy when your reading is interrupted. Most serious readers are that way. I know I am. 🙂
Thanks again for your post. If you’d like to have more interaction with me, please follow me on FB. I’m more active there.

  6. I’ve just finished books 1-4, and I’m obsessed! Brava!! I am an 8th grade AP English teacher and can’t wait to introduce this series to my students! Fall cannot come fast enough; I am dying to know what happens next!!!!!

  7. Have you thought of writing a story that uses fairy lore? The reason I ask is because it is a little understood mythology. Few people know of the Fairy connection to demons, fallen angels, or ghosts. Fewer people still know that King Arthur, his knights, and Merlin were originally British Gods. And almost no one has heard of fairy doctors, witches who learned their craft from the fae.

  8. I just finished burning bridges. Is there going to be a book 5?

  9. Hi I just finished Forbidden Forest and went back to buy the rest of the series and to my disappointment they are no longer available in the U.S. Apple Store except in audio. I was wondering what changed your mind about having the books on there and as to when or if you might put them back as I only have gift cards to there. Thanks for your time! Your books are truly captivating!

Once you’ve downloaded the free Kindle app, you can purchase the book from Amazon and it will automatically appear in your app.

  10. when will 5 and 6 be out in audio format?

  11. I just wanted to say that I am obsessed with your books on the Legends of Regia!
I just found them on Amazon and I can’t even tell you how great they are – I can’t stop reading them! I’m so sad because I’m almost done with Blood Lock and I don’t want the story to end – Lol
I can’t wait to read more of your work and I hope you never stop!
    – Just thought you should know that you have a new fan out here 😉
Thank you for creating amazing stories that I can get lost in – you truly have talent!

  12. I just have to say that I ordered Legends of Regia 1-4 in a boxed set and it took me exactly 2 weeks to get though all 4 and then I had to order books 5 and 6 which took me no time at all. I was besides myself to read the final installment Lightening Flower. I have fallen in love with all the characters. I am one of those people who dive into a book and they become my family. I felt so drawn to Forest and Syrus and their love for each other. Then as Tesla aged, the love she felt for X and how their connection because of the Heart helped their love grow. I just wanted to thank you for letting me indulge and immerse into Legends of Regia. I only wish there were more coming so I can continue my love affair. I will forever re-read this series and any more you have to offer.

    • Thank you so much for your note, Jennifer! You really made my day! I’m so happy my stories entertained you. I hope you will enjoy the new ones I write as well. Make sure to join the FB group so you’ll always know what I’m up to, and when there will be new books from me. 🙂 Thanks again for contacting me.
